Two ways to get a carbon wheel. Have one hand-built here in Rochford from the rim, hub and spokes you choose, or order a complete wheelset built by Nextie in their factory.

Made to your spec

Build it your way

Pick any Nextie carbon rim, then a Hope, Shimano, Nextie Rollingstar or SON dynamo hub, spokes and nipples. We work out the spoke length from the rim's ERD, then build, tension and true every wheel by hand. BMX rims are sold as rims only. About 7 weeks (rim ordered from Nextie, then built).

Tyre pressure calculator

The right pressure depends on your weight, your tyre width and the inside width of the rim. Pick one of our Nextie rims to fill in the rim width, choose how you ride, and get front and rear pressures in psi and bar. There is more on how it works on the tyre pressure page.

Include water, tools and the clothes you ride in. E-bikes: add the battery.

The size printed on the sidewall. A measured width on your rim is even better.

Wider rims support the tyre better, so allow a little less pressure.

This does not change the numbers. Tyre width and weight matter far more.

What this means: Run about 62 psi in the front and 67 psi in the rear: a balanced set-up for a 28 mm tyre on smooth tarmac.

Safety. Never exceed the maximum pressure printed on the tyre sidewall or stated by the rim maker, whichever is lower. Check your tyres and rims before you inflate.

How to fine-tune

Start with these numbers. Drop 1 to 2 psi at a time (about 0.1 bar) until the tyre feels vague or squirms in corners, then go back up one step. If you feel every bump or the rim clangs on hits, add a little.
