Carrying a dog
A frame for a dog box
It is not every day you get a request to design a frame that works with a dog box. The answer was longer chainstays, so the bike stays stable with the weight at the back.
“As for the ride quality it was way better than I was expecting. It had the same zing as my old bike with more comfort and better handling.”
“Didn’t notice the long chain stays when riding, only in a good way but obviously as expected it’s harder to lift the front wheel, but I didn’t find that a problem.”

Rigid and simple
Singlespeed, with room for luggage
Saul Muldoon built up a Travers Angus singlespeed with an EVO Prong fork and wrote about it for the Journal. These are their words:
“The neat yet chunky titanium welds, PDW sliding dropouts and engraved Travers head tube logo all mark the frame out as something a bit special.”
“Triple bottle bosses beneath the down tube provide valuable extra luggage capacity for bikepacking trips, while the top tube bosses make it easy to fit a bento box or bag for snacks and other essentials without the need for unsightly frame straps.”
Sliding dropouts and bag bosses are options in the designer. Rack, mudguard and bag mounts are free.

Big wheels, long days
32-inch bikepacking
The MighTi 32 is a bespoke titanium frame designed for endurance bikepacking on 32-inch wheels. The large frame weighs 1.9 kg. Everything about it is chosen with you, from the geometry to the braze-ons.

One-offs
A titanium 29+ tandem
In 2014 I made a special custom bespoke titanium 29+ tandem frame. It is the most unusual frame I have made. When it was nearly finished, Stuart from Flitch Bikes brought it round, and it was waiting only on Middleburn components for the stoker chainset and on me for the carbon CR29 rims.
It is not in the designer, so if you have something like it in mind, email me and we will work it out together.

Every rider
Tall, short, or somewhere in between
A size chart has to fit most people. A drawn frame has to fit you. Every number in the designer can be changed, within limits that keep the frame sound, and the drawing shows what each change does to the bike. The standard size ranges are:
- MTB XC 29er: Small to XXL
- 32" MTB: Medium to XXL
- 700c Gravel: Small to XXL
- 32" Gravel: Medium to XXL
If you sit outside those, or between sizes, send me your height and inside leg. How to choose a size
Questions
Special builds FAQ
Can you make a frame for something unusual?
Often, yes. A frame is drawn to order, so a longer rear end for a dog box, extra bosses for bags, sliding dropouts for a singlespeed or a different wheel size are all things the designer or a conversation can cover. Tell me what you want it to do and I will say honestly whether it works.
Do you make tandems?
I have made a titanium 29+ tandem frame. It is not in the designer, so email me with what you need and we will talk it through.
Can I get a singlespeed or belt-drive frame?
Yes. Sliding dropouts (for singlespeed or hub gears) and a belt-drive splitter are options in the designer, listed with their prices on every frame page.
I am very tall, or short. Is that a problem?
That is what a drawn-to-order frame is for. Every number in the designer can be changed within limits that keep the frame sound, and the sizing guide explains what to measure. Send me your height and inside leg if you would like a second opinion.
How long does a special build take?
The same as any frame: about 12 weeks from drawing approval, after a few days to talk it through and draw it up. Up to three revisions of the drawing are included.
Got something unusual in mind?
Tell me what the bike has to do. It is free to ask, and I check everything before I quote.
