Privacy notice

Travers Bikes Ltd (“we”) is the data controller for personal information collected through this website and our workshop. Contact: info@traversbikes.com, 4 Pudsey Hall Lane, Canewdon, Rochford, Essex SS4 3RY.

What we collect and why

  • Bookings and My Shed: name, email, phone, collection address, bike details, job notes and photos — to carry out the work you ask for (contract).
  • Payments: handled by Stripe (including PayPal through Stripe). We receive confirmation of payment but never see or store your card details.
  • Shop orders: stored in our order system and paid through Stripe, to fulfil your order (contract).
  • Service reminders, the newsletter and offers: only if you opt in (consent). You can sign up to the newsletter on this site (we email you once to confirm), and every email has an unsubscribe link. Newsletter emails are sent from this website; we no longer use Mailchimp.
  • Emails we send you about your job or order: these contain a small invisible image so we can see whether the email was opened, which tells us whether to follow up by phone. Most email apps block it. Ask us and we'll turn it off for you.
  • Job photos: pictures of your bike taken in the workshop, stored privately and visible only to you and our staff.
  • Deliveries: your name, address and phone are passed to the courier through Parcel2Go so the parcel can be delivered.
  • Your bikes in My Shed: photos you add, miles you log, warranty registrations (frame number, purchase date) and the service history we record, to give you the service and to honour warranty claims (contract). If you choose to share your bike's service passport, anyone with that link can see the workshop history for that bike, without prices, photos or your personal details. You can turn the link off at any time.
  • Text messages: if you give us a mobile number we may text you about a job in progress (for example when your bike is ready or we need your approval). These are service messages, not marketing.
  • Referrals and rewards: if you use or share a referral code, or earn a loyalty voucher, we keep a record of who referred whom and what was awarded.
  • Security and bot checks: our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. It may read technical information from your browser for that purpose only.
  • Visitor statistics: we use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you.
  • Accounting records: invoices kept for six years (legal obligation).

Who processes it for us

Vercel (website hosting and visitor statistics), Supabase (customer and workshop database, UK/EU region), Stripe (payments), Parcel2Go (deliveries), Cloudflare (bot checks), Twilio (text messages, if you have given us a mobile number) and our email provider. Orders shipped outside the UK are declared to customs by the courier.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent. Email info@traversbikes.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

How long we keep it

  • Customer, bike and job records (including photos, messages and miles you log): for as long as you use us, and for six years after your last job or order, then deleted or anonymised. You can ask us to delete your My Shed account and personal details sooner; we'll keep only what the law requires.
  • Invoices and order records: six years (accounting law), with personal details removed if you ask us to erase your data.
  • Marketing and reminder preferences: until you unsubscribe or ask us to stop. If you've never confirmed your email address for marketing, we won't send any.
  • Email log: two years.
  • Security backups of our database: 30 days, then overwritten.
  • Enquiries and booking requests that don't go ahead: twelve months.
