The carbon fiber bicycle industry has been innovating and advancing all the time. Being lighter and stronger has always been the pursuit of the professional bicycle industry. The Supreme Edition was created to explore the performance and weight limits of carbon fiber materials applied to bicycle wheels. We know that different materials would affect the performance and weight of rim products. What if we change the appearance design of a rim? Would it bring any difference or improvements in the strength and weight?

We have found that the most vulnerable part of a rim is the rim lip. If we could enlarge the area of rim lip where it contacts the tire, in theory, under the same impact force, the pressure on a rim with a wider lip area would be less, which could perform a higher impact resistance. Based on this theoretical premise, we newly designed the Supreme Edition Omega 40D Downhill mountain rim with a rim lip width of 4.0mm, which is thicker than the other AM or Enduro rims with rim lip thickness of 3.0mm or 3.5mm. The contact area between the rim lip and the tire is wider, the impact resistance increases.

Based on the Super Enduro version, we adjusted the new stacking technology and the proportion of materials to develop a Downhill version. This Downhill version is heavier but also stronger.

We continue to explore and adjust the stacking manufacturing technology, and finally successfully completed the development of the Omega 40D Downhill rim. The impact test reaches 175J, which is 10% stronger than the previous Premium Edition DH rim NXT29XD39 (160J), and also lighter in weight. This is a huge improvement. IMPACT TEST VIDEO.

This rim could be used for Trail, All Mountain, Big Mountain, Freeride, Enduro (and Super Enduro), Downhill and Dirt Jump. The tire size for this model of rim is recommended at 2.15" ~ 2.9". The tire pressure is recommended at 20 ~ 32 psi.
