The carbon fiber bicycle industry has been innovating and advancing all the time. Being lighter and stronger has always been the pursuit of the professional bicycle industry, especially for the mountain rims for XC (Cross Country) riding, where riders have extreme weight requirements. The Supreme Edition was created to explore the performance and weight limits of carbon fiber materials applied to bicycle wheels. We know that different materials would affect the performance and weight of rim products. What if we change the appearance design of a rim? Would it bring any difference or improvements in the strength and weight?

We have found that the most vulnerable part of a rim is the rim lip. If we could enlarge the area of rim lip where it contacts the tire, in theory, under the same impact force, the pressure on a rim with a wider lip area would be less, which could perform a higher impact resistance. Based on this theoretical premise, we newly designed the Supreme Edition Omega 36U mountain bicycle rim for cross country with a rim lip thickness at 3.0mm.

The impact test result reaches 105J for the 280g version of Omega 36U. This is a huge improvement compared to the Premium Edition. IMPACT TEST VIDEO (280g).

On 2024.08.08, we successfully developed a lighter version of Omega 36U, the weight is 260g only. The impact test result reaches 100J. IMPACT TEST VIDEO (260g).

* Impact Test 5 at 110J represents the failure threshold, confirming that 105J is the validated safe maximum for the 280g version.

* Impact Test 4 at 105J represents the failure threshold, confirming that 100J is the validated safe maximum for the 260g version.

This rim could be used for Cross Country, Marathon, Endurance Cross Country, Trail riding. The tire size for this model of rim is recommended at 2.0" ~ 2.75". The tire pressure is recommended at 20 ~ 32 psi.
