I have only just got my sweaty hands on the latest batch and they are all sold except for 1 Medium (you can see pictures of it on facebook). I have also recieved matching Handle bars and Stems. The order is going in now for the next batch of 29er+ frames, there is still time to add to this order but you must pull your finger out! KCNC components come in a wide variety of colours and sizes, so if you cant see what you want email and we will get it in for you. 10/05/13 The production versions of "Rudy" and his chubby brother "Rudy Fat" are complete and are just about to be sent to the finishing department for polishing and bead blasting. 25/03/13 The forgotten super material. *Pulls up chair and eases feet into comfy slippers*, now when I was a lad everybody hankered after a titanium frame, it was lauded for its ride qualities, light weight and robustness. I remember thumbing through MBUK and dribbling over the latest Merlin, Dean or Fat Chance titanium offering. Those days of titanium being lusted after as the pinnacle of frame material seem to be diminishing with the up-start 'carbon fibre' muscling in on the act. Carbon seemed to be the answer, even lighter than titanium, cheaper and malleable into practically any frame shape or design you could think of. Titanium slipped out of favour with frame manufacturers for other more practical reasons. The bigger carbon tubes provide a larger surface area for manufacturers to plaster their brand across and the production of carbon frames could be more easily achieved on a mass produced basis. The properties that made the titanium frame so popular in the first place are lost in the never ending pursuit of increasing profit margins. Travers Bikes titanium frames all come with a lifetime warranty for the rider because of their resistance to fatigue...how many carbon frames offer that? A bespoke titanium frame can be made far cheaper than a one off carbon frame. Strangely rather than getting cheaper, high end carbon frames are now costing into the thousands of pounds, and not forgetting the reason we all ride, the quality of the ride, the feedback you get and the almost magical insulating properties titanium has from trail buzz. Titanium has the added benefit of being resistant to corrosion so there is no need for a gaudy paint job, with the natural colour laid bare, you can have it finished in either a brushed, bead blasted or polished appearance. Titanium frames can be designed to accommodate the latest advancement in technology but because of the classic lines and tube profiles they will never go out of fashion. Any of the titanium frames Travers Bikes currently offer can be customised to your needs (for a small fee). You like "Rudy" our race ready 29er which can be run with derailleur gears (rear mech), single speed or hubs gears but want a different bottom bracket?..we can do that. 24/03/13 I have been riding mountain bikes for 25 years and have seen fashions come and go, some have hung around, been perfected and become a must have and others have fallen by the way side. The most obvious part that has become de facto on a mountain bike is front suspension, the technological battle is won and its just a matter of which brand you are going to nail your colours to! Wait a minute are we just being blinded with marketing speak? Most riders never get the chance to compare riding with and without suspension because these days even the cheapest bikes come with suspension forks already bolted on. Now I am not for one moment saying that rigid forks are aimed at the freeride/downhill crowd, but for the XC/endurance rider they are a realistic viable alternative. The most important suspension element on any bike is you. You have far more travel in your arms and legs than any suspension forks. Learning to relax and absorb the hits on a rigid bike, picking lines and dancing your way through a rock garden, rather than blasting through the middle will only enhance your riding when you head to the big mountains. So what are the other benefits to rigid over suspension forks?
20/03/13 "Rudy" is getting about a bit at the moment. I was unable to race at the weekend so I gave "Rudy" a good polish and sent him off for follow up review under more strenuous race conditions. I haven't seen the review yet but I have only had positive feedback. Reports many admiring glances and fondles were had on the start line...I still have to ascertain if these were directed towards "Rudy" or the Lycra clad rider on-board! 13/03/13 "Rudy" AKA the "Mud" has been reviewed by The "Hadleigh Mountain bike club" which will be based at the 2012 Olympic mountain bike track. As typical with the British weather the review day rolled around and it was glorious sun shine with trails even turning dusty in places and little evidence of mud! As it turns out it was a blessing in disguise because it showed the frame was not a one trick "Mud" pony and could perform equally well in the dry dusty conditions. The Travers 29er forks also performed admirably kicking a pair of rather expensive suspension forks into the dust, quite to the surprise of the reviewer. Almost eradicating the trail buzz from his hands that plagued his current bike (cough Trek). 05/03/13 Its been a busy couple of days, The "Mud" bike has been out on quite a few test rides with either potential customers or curious folk! this has given me the opportunity to ride other brands of bike and get a direct comparison in the real world, out on the trail. The feedback from the other riders across the board is extremely positive, glowing praise from everyone that rides the "Mud". The over whelming feedback was the natural dampening of the trail buzz that titanium "Mud" frame removed when married with the Travers 29er carbon fork out performed many of the high end suspension forks that adorned other bikes that we had on test. I know the initial concept was for a winter bike but clearly the "Mud" bike frame has the potential to be a year round bike...especially with MK11 "Mud" on its way with the ability to run derailleur gears (rear mech) as well as Hub gears or if you are really hardcore single speed! 26/02/13 I have had so many kind words and offers of help from people over the last month, it has been very humbling. I realise that I cant do this without your help and feedback. That got me thinking, it's only fair if I put back something. Free shipping on all frames and forks. 09/02/13 The "Mud" bike frame is now ready for its first competitive outing. The build went very smoothly and initial test are very encouraging. Changing gear whilst standing still is a revelation! Things look so good with the frame that I have decided to start work on the next product. Hmm, shall it be a "Fat Mud", "CXMud" or some Truss forks? 08/02/13 Apologies for the amount of grammatical errors in the site yesterday, it was late, I was tired and I didn't check it properly. I have scheduled an extra turbo session in as punishment! Its a pet hate of mine on other people's sites! 07/02/13 Things have moved on quite a bit over the last month. I have finally put some moody black and white shots of the Travers "Mud" frame online and redesigned the website. I have been better at updating the Facebook page with information and pictures. Just in time for the big thaw and return of the muddy conditions. 18/12/12 Project "Rudy", The Mud Bike is in full swing. Prototypes are being evaluated as we speak, production frames will hopefully be available April 2013ish. For those asking for a little more detail-all I can say is it is a no compromise mud bike, Alfine 11 speed with oodles of mud clearance.
