Little experiment, we are still having the odd issue with adults getting in the way of riders in the U7 category, I have considered a number of options but I think the best solution is an adult cut-through. This will be from the top to the bottom of the hill (adults miss out the downhill section). Adults can help going up but then cut through off the track to catch up with their rider at the bottom of the hill. This should stop any rider/parent interaction on the faster sections of the course.
I am not going to make it compulsory for adults to take the cut-through as I realise some younger/less confident riders might need help on the way down but please adults if you do continue down, can you be extra careful of riders on the course.

FUN riders - Anyone who entered the Fun category because they were not sure how their fitness was, it was their first ever MTB event etc and now have the bug and wished they had entered the Male L2 or Female L1...you can move up!
If you have the Fun series entry already paid for. email [email protected] and we can arrange for the additional payment and change of category. If you have so far only entered Round 1 Fun, you can just go ahead and change to either L2 male or L1 female when you enter Round 2. In both instances, you will need a new number board and helmet tag, which you can pick up on race day. What are the Age Categories?
The cut off for all ages is 00:00 January 1st 2023 i.e. If you want to ride in the Under 7 category - You still need to be 6 at the stroke of midnight Male/Female Ride together (in categories below) Under 7 - Riders Born since 2016 Under 9 - Riders Born Between 2014 - 15 Under 12 - Riders Born between 2011 - 13 If you enter a rider for any of the above races, you just need to do it once, the riders entry will be carried forward to all rounds (whether they intent to ride them or not) There will be a drop down menu asking if you have a number board, just say Male/Female Ride together (in categories below) - Race is run at same time as Female Adult Race Juvenile - Riders Born between 09 - 10 Youth - Riders Born between 07 - 08 Adult (Male and Female) categories explained
In 2023 the categories have evolved a little, for 2 reasons, the massive increase in rider numbers in 2022 and to open up the series to new riders who have never raced before. Change 1, The introduction of a Male/Female Fun category, its open to anyone new to the sport, there will be no prizes or overall series awards to keep the entry price down, the races distance will be shortened to 45mins + 1 Lap (roughly 1hr total) Change 2, The Female Fun category will be run at the same time as the other female categories starting 15 minuites later. The Male Fun Category and L2 riders will have their own race, meaning you will not be on course at the same time as the faster Elite and L1 riders. Womens Categories - Born Before and Including 2006 Elite - Competitive riders from across the SE L1 - Race regularly with a good level of skill Fun - Great place to start, you are just out to have fun and learn from others Mens Categories - Born Before and Including 2006 Elite - Competitive riders L1 - Race regularly with a good level of skill L2 - Love to rub elbows and race but also have fun Fun - Great place to start, you are just out to have fun and learn from others |
