Few changes to note, there is a new "Fun" category in both the womens and mens races, you will get results for the day but no overall series position. The womens categories will all ride together, the mens categories will be split into 2 races to allow for better passing with riders of similar ability on track at the same time. Elite and L1 the followed by L2 and FUN. We expect the top 3 in every category (finishing series position) from the 2022 season to ride in the next category up, i.e. L1 top 3 move up to Elite. Demotions, we are not going to force anyone down a category because its tricky, just because you finished at the bottom of a category does not mean a great deal, you might have only ridden one round or be coming back from injury. We are leaving this down to you to make the choice but we do reserve the right to move you if after the frist round you are clearly dong lap times quick enough to be riding in the top half of the category above. Any women new or returning to the sport Kevin darragh will be running his "Women’s Rookie Race Squad" again in 2023. He is offering free training and advice giving you an easy route into the Travers MTB Series

What are the Age Categories?
The cut off for all ages is 00:00 January 1st 2023 i.e. If you want to ride in the Under 7 category - You still need to be 6 at the stroke of midnight Male/Female Ride together (in categories below) Under 7 - Riders Born since 2016 Under 9 - Riders Born Between 2014 - 15 Under 12 - Riders Born between 2011 - 13 If you enter a rider for any of the above races, you just need to do it once, the riders entry will be carried forward to all rounds (whether they intent to ride them or not) There will be a drop down menu asking if you have a number board, just say Male/Female Ride together (in categories below) - Race is run at same time as Female Adult Race Juvenile - Riders Born between 09 - 10 Youth - Riders Born between 07 - 08 Adult (Male and Female) categories explained
In 2023 the categories have evolved a little, for 2 reasons, the massive increase in rider numbers in 2022 and to open up the series to new riders who have never raced before. Change 1, The introduction of a Male/Female Fun category, its open to anyone new to the sport, there will be no prizes or overall series awards to keep the entry price down, the races distance will be shortened to 45mins + 1 Lap (roughly 1hr total) Change 2, The Female Fun category will be run at the same time as the other female categories starting 15 minuites later. The Male Fun Category and L2 riders will have their own race, meaning you will not be on course at the same time as the faster Elite and L1 riders.
