The course is ready with added extra passing places! Also, the main field is now completely dry, so we could get the tractor on it to cut the grass all the way to the bottom. I know how much people like the longer climb! The boggy section towards the top of the climb just before you go on the track that passes the horse is also almost dry.
Round 2 will run in the reverse direction (of round 1) and as promised the track length has been increased and a passing place has been added. Don't forget entries close at midnight Wednesday.
You can either enter the Travers MTB Series on the website https://www.traversbikes.com/enterfees.html
or go direct to Webscorer https://www.webscorer.com/84702?pg=register FUN riders - Anyone who entered the Fun category because they were not sure how their fitness was, it was their first ever MTB event etc and now have the bug and wished they had entered the Male L2 or Female L1...you can move up!
If you have the Fun series entry already paid for. email [email protected] and we can arrange for the additional payment and change of category. If you have so far only entered Round 1 Fun, you can just go ahead and change to either L2 male or L1 female when you enter Round 2. In both instances, you will need a new number board and helmet tag, which you can pick up on race day. Just a small explainer regarding the results, these are the lap times from the Elite men's race (Rnd 1 2024). If you press the "Show all" button you can see the individual lap times.
LAP: quite straightforward, each lap in order, lap 1, 2, 3 etc LAP TIME: This is how long each of the above laps took RANK: In your race, this is who did that particular lap the quickest, as you can see, Harry was the quickest on lap 1 and 2, then backed off slightly and Kieran was quickest on lap 3 BEHIND: This is how much slower you/the rider is behind the fastest rider on that lap. RACE TIME: This is the elapsed time for the race at each point of crossing the finish line. RANK: This is your position in the race on that lap BEHIND: This is how far you/the rider is behind the race leader at that point of the race. What a great way to start the Travers MTB Series in almost perfect condition (except for the slightly boggy section at the top of the climb). You will find the results on webscorer, they are currently preliminary but will be confirmed tomorrow if nobody spots any issues.
Thanks to all riders who took part, there was no litter left on the course and also to everyone who helped and marshalled. Anyone new to the series, keep your number board/helmet tag for the entire series. The silicone zip ties are also reusable, so please keep those too (there is a £5 charge for replacement/lost number board, £1 for silicone zip ties). Photos by Basil Thornton are available here. Entries close at midnight Wednesday before each race, no entries on the day, It's great to see so many of you entered as soon as you got home. Gridding will be done on the series result going forward, and then new riders will be added after the date they enter (the sooner the higher up the grid you are). Round 2 course will be run mainly in reverse (course direction, you won't need to sit on your handlebars and pedal backwards!). We were a bit caught up with how dry and fast running the course was, meaning the lap times were shorter than ideal, so we will be adding a section to round 2 to extend the lap (and adding some passing places). Roll on round 2, less than 2 weeks away! ![]()
