I finally got around to building my new Travers Angus Singlespeed frame and EVO Prong fork this week.

As expected, the frame is beautifully made. The neat yet chunky titanium welds, PDW sliding dropouts and engraved Travers head tube logo all mark the frame out as something a bit special.

Compared with my previous Angus, there are some welcome additions. Triple bottle bosses beneath the down tube provide valuable extra luggage capacity for bikepacking trips, while the top tube bosses make it easy to fit a bento box or bag for snacks and other essentials without the need for unsightly frame straps.
The internal dropper post routing is another welcome addition, and something that feels almost essential these days. That said, for this build I’ve gone a bit old-school with a classic Thomson rigid seatpost, although that may change in the future. I also love the Travers “No, You’re Awesome” titanium oil slick top cap.
The rest of the components are a mix of old and new, coming together to create another beautiful Angus with that classic rigid singlespeed silhouette.
I’m looking forward to plenty of adventures on the new Angus, including what has become a traditional bikepacking trip to the Singlespeed UK Championships in September.

One of the questions I get asked regularly is, “Will the Travers EVO Prong work on modern XC race bikes?”
The answer is yes.
This Trek Supercaliber has just been fitted with a Travers EVO Prong carbon fork, transforming an already lightweight and efficient race bike into an even simpler, lighter and lower-maintenance machine. The clean lines of the Supercaliber frame pair surprisingly well with the matte black fork, giving the bike a purposeful XC race-bike look while retaining plenty of tyre clearance for modern tyres.
The EVO Prong is designed around modern Boost standards and suspension-corrected geometry, making it a straightforward option for riders looking to experiment with a rigid setup without dramatically altering the handling of their bike. At just 680g, it offers a significant weight saving over most suspension forks while maintaining precise steering and excellent front-end stiffness.
Rigid bikes aren’t for everyone, but for smoother XC courses, winter training, endurance riding, bikepacking, and riders who simply enjoy the direct connection to the trail, a quality carbon fork can completely change the character of a bike.
I don’t sell Trek bikes, but I do love seeing the EVO Prong fitted to different brands and models. It helps demonstrate just how versatile the fork is, whether it’s being used on a dedicated race bike, a bikepacking build or a lightweight trail machine.

While primarily developed around 29er geometry, the fork’s clearance envelope allows it to be used in a wider range of builds, including emerging 32” MTB setups where frame and tyre combinations allow.
